ActUpNorth prides itself on offering a unique, modern and in-depth approach to teaching our students whatever their age. We are not a typical run-of-the-mill stage school or part of a huge franchised chain offering lessons in singing, acting and dance. We are focused on Acting and preparing our students for work in the fields of TV, Theatre, Film & Radio.
The aim of our workshops is to build confidence as well as instilling the discipline and dedication that is needed to work and indeed sustain a career in the performing arts. Don’t get us wrong, our workshops are great fun and a great way for your child to make new friends but they are not youth clubs.
Our work is a mixture of improvisation work – allowing our children the chance to be creative and imaginative in a world where we are so quickly forced to grow up. We want to inspire and nurture these creative minds.
As with our adult classes, we will also look at script work from both modern TV Drama and Film, hopefully with some recognisable scenes from their favourite films. We will also cover audition technique and acting for screen to name but a few. Students will also get to view their work back as we often film our work using our HD Cameras.
In addition to our usual tutors, we have guest tutors from the Industry. Over the last few weeks this has included Casting Directors from CBBC as well as TV Directors from 'Grange Hill', 'Hollyoaks', 'The Royal', 'Coronation Street' and 'Emmerdale'.

Our classes are arranged in the following age groups…
Leeds
10 - 14 Years---Mondays 5.15 - 7.15pm (now open!)
14 - 18 years ---Tuesdays 5.15pm - 7.15pm
All applicants to the classes are invited to a FREE trial workshop. We believe this is a great chance for your child to experience how we work and indeed see if they enjoy it.
